         Friday, June 12:

Today's ride from Houston was uneventful except for the fact I'm now over 2000 miles. I left at 6 got here at 1030, check-in time 4, reconnoitered town, checked out the Alamo and then found a great smoke filled bar. I'd better get this out of my system now because, tomorrow, you know who arrives!!!! I hope these tattoos aren't real.

        Saturday, June 13:

This is the day, Connie Joe Bob shows up. BUT first, at 10:00, let's have the trusty ol' cell phone decide to crap out, Connie arrives at the airport at 12:00 and, I don't know ANY phone numbers. I run around downtown San Antonio looking for a Verizon store ... no luck. I look in the Yellow Pages, find a store in a Mall 6 miles away, disconnect the trailer, hop on the bike, zip to the mall and stand in line at the store for 1/2 hour. Tick Tock Tick Tock. This lady says that I don't have insurance and I don't get a new phone credit for another month. I tell her I don't give a crap, I need a phone that works. Well, they have a technician who just arrived and he'll need a few hours to look at it. Tick Tock Tick Tock. I cop an attitude, she grabs the phone only to return 10 minutes later declaring it fixed. I ask her what the problem was. She says that they cleaned the contacts, pulled the battery out for a few minutes to reset it and that is it. Are you sure that was the problem. I'm riding around this here country and need a reliable phone. Oh, it is fine.

Connie shows up on time and we are out the door into town. We stop by the Buckhorn Saloon for a bite to eat and meet James and son Dan Wright the entertainment (see accompanying picture). James spent his break with us and gave us some tips on where to ride. Thanks James, appreciate it.

We wandered all along the River Walk which had a craft show going down. At 8:00 we got tickets for a song and dance show (Fiesta Noche del Rio)right on the River Walk. You sit on one side and there is a stage on the other but the entertainers also cross over to the seating side and engage the audience. All I can say is can you only imagine if Big Gene was there!!! It would have become "Fiesta Noche del Rio and Gene".

Oh, did I mention that the cell phone died again! Actually, it is just the screen. It is very faint and can only be read with a flashlight. It's another trip to the Verizon dealer on Monday. Ohhhhh boy!

        Sunday, June 14:

Out the door by noon to wander about the River Walk. Yes, it is quite long considering that you can walk on either side and their are lots of shops and restaurants. Check out the official website. After lunch, met a couple of bicycle riders, Jay and Jenny, and shot the breeze with them over a cup of coffee. Jay was telling us about an all day and night race in which he competed in Moab, Utah with a group called Pedalmashers. My aching #$%^'s.

        Monday, June 15:

Ok, let's get the cell phone out of the way first. So, yesterday I took the battery out and left it out all day. Put it back in and voila, it's a new phone no problemo. Weeeeeee'lllllll see!

Pretty much bummed around and saw some things we didn't see the previous days. Looking at the grim weather forecast should probably have hit the road.
